Visions for the future of community energy in the UK

26 June 2019

Tim Braunholtz-Speight of Tyndall Manchester launched ‘Visions for the future of community energy in the UK’, a new report from the UKERC Financing Community Energy research project, at the Community Energy England annual conference on June 22.

The report synthesises views expressed in a series of expert workshops, organised by Tyndall Manchester as part of the project. It suggests that there are many opportunities for community energy to diversify and grow in the transition to a low carbon energy system, but that regulation needs to support democratisation and decentralisation as well as decarbonisation to enable this.

The conference brought together over 100 community energy practitioners, and stakeholders from private and public sectors, from across England and Wales. The report was presented in the ‘Reimagining Community Energy’ session, that will feed into Community Energy England’s 2030 Vision.
