Visions for the future of community energy

25 January 2019

Researchers from the Tyndall Centre have crossed the UK in December and January, running workshops in Edinburgh, London and Cardiff to help create a bold vision for the longer term future of community energy.

The Edinburgh workshop

The events brought together community energy practitioners and other stakeholders to explore what community energy could become in a future energy system, and to map out the steps needed to realise their visions. The researchers will build on the wealth of insight and inspiration generated at the workshops to produce policy and academic outputs later this year.

The workshops form part of the Financing Community Energy project, led by Tyndall Manchester. Tyndall’s Professor Carly McLachlan, Dr Sarah Mander, Dr Tim Braunholtz-Speight and Lisa Bell organised and ran the events, together with Dr Jeff Hardy of Imperial College, and Dr Matt Hannon and Dr Iain Cairns of the University of Strathclyde.
