Manchester Climate Change Conference 2018

29 July 2018

Dr Jaise Kuriakose presented the carbon emissions budget and pathways for the city of Manchester at the Manchester Climate Change Conference, held at the Royal Exchange Theatre on 17 July.

The presentation provided an overview of the scale of ambition and the urgency needed for decarbonising Manchester City’s energy system in line with the commitments of the Paris Climate Agreement to avoid dangerous climate change. The presentation was followed by an engaging panel discussion where Jaise was joined by other experts taking questions from the public. This launch event for City’s carbon budget was organised by the Manchester Climate Change Agency and was attended by nearly 300 delegates. The carbon budget now under consideration by the City Council is based on the report authored by MACE’s Jaise Kuriakose, Kevin Anderson, John Broderick and Carly McLachlan. Presentations on the carbon budgets are available from the Manchester Climate Change Agency website.
