The invitation to contribute follows a decade-long engagement with the water sector that exemplifies how social science research can be used to provide alternatives ways of understanding and intervening in water demand. The workshop forms part of government consultations for the Joint Water Evidence Program (JWEP), that will inform the policy landscape of Water Quality and Water Services and shape the aims of the 25 Year Environment Plan.
The key message is that water use emerges from complex relationships between our bodies, homes, society, infrastructure and the environment. Follow-up workshops are to be held with Defra and Ofwat to explore novel intervention pathways to reduce water demand.
