New project awarded funding to explore community pantries and food security
7 May 2026
The Sustainable Futures Community Impact Fund has funded Chris Walsh's project 'Understanding and Supporting the Impact of Community Pantries on Local Food Security', which will begin shortly.
The impact project, in collaboration with The Power of Resilience CIC, will fund new research into the impact of food security community action in Tameside, Greater Manchester.
The Power of Resilience build and operate food pantries within the communities for the use of all who live nearby. The project will pay for the construction of a new pantry in North Ashton-under-Lyme as well as financing outreach sessions to inform and equip the community.
There will be a Ripple Effect Mapping workshop in summer to establish the organisations impact on the community that will support it in pursuing future funding opportunities and contribute interesting insights into community led food resilience.
