New project funded on 'Environmental impacts of digital services for health and wellbeing in the home'

Dr Alejandro Gallego Schmid will be a Co-I on the project which has been awarded as part of the EPSRC Digital Economy: Sustainable Digital Society 2020/21 call.

The project aims to develop and deliver internationally leading research, focusing on embedding environmental sustainability through responsible health and wellbeing digital interventions in the home from a systemic, socio-technical perspective.  Through co-creation and user-focused interdisciplinary engagement with stakeholders, the research will be carried out in the most environmentally sustainable way possible, endorsing the principles of circular economy.  Researchers working on the project will champion the importance of environmental sustainability in digital interventions around health and wellbeing in the home as part of the undergoing major upgrade and ongoing transformation of social housing facilities in the UK and globally.

Alejandro will be responsible will be responsible for quantifying the environmental impacts and level of circularity of the implementation of digital homes, e-health and wellbeing solutions and proposing improvements.
