One Bin to Rule them All project team triumphs at Making a Difference Awards 2024

Among over 120 entrants for the University’s Making a Difference Awards 2024, the One Bin to Rule Them All project team have won an award in the category ‘Outstanding contribution to social and environmental impact through entrepreneurship’ and the University Social Responsibility Staff Medal!

Tyndall members of the One Bin project team include Adeyemi Adelekan and Maria Sharmina, and the other project members are Helen Holmes, Torik Holmes, Mike Shaver, Kristoffer Kortsen, and Siobhan Kilbride.

One Bin To Rule Them All is an innovative, interdisciplinary project that enables a sustainable circular plastics economy by using behavioural understanding and new economic models to reshape recycling practices. From mapping household contamination to influencing UN Plastics Treaty negotiations, the team enables improved recycling outcomes across supply chains. The project has had a substantial impact on industry, policy, and public perceptions. The Innovative Materials Hierarchy has been adopted by 14 industry partners and trade bodies across the UK, USA, and EU.
